- 11 cup rice
- 21/2 cup toor dal (split pigeon peas)
- 31 small potato, cubed
- 41/2 cup green beans, chopped
- 51 carrot, diced
- 61/4 cup green peas
- 71 tomato, diced
- 82 tbsp bisi bele bath powder (or sambar powder)
- 91 tbsp tamarind paste
- 101 tsp mustard seeds
- 111 tsp cumin seeds
- 128 curry leaves
- 132 tbsp ghee or oil
- 142 tbsp roasted peanuts

Cook rice and dal together in 4 cups water until both are soft and mushy, about 25 minutes.

In a separate pan, cook potato, beans, carrot, and peas in water until tender, 8 minutes. Add tomato.

Add cooked vegetables to the rice-dal mixture. Add bisi bele bath powder and tamarind paste.

Add water to reach a porridge-like consistency. Simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Heat ghee in a small pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves. When they splutter, pour over the rice.

Add roasted peanuts and mix well. Adjust salt and spice.

Serve hot with a dollop of ghee on top and papad on the side. This is a Karnataka one-pot classic.
