- 11.5 lbs ground beef or lamb
- 21 large onion, diced
- 32 tbsp butter
- 42 slices white bread, soaked in 1/2 cup milk
- 52 tbsp curry powder
- 61 tbsp apricot jam
- 72 tbsp lemon juice
- 81/4 cup raisins
- 92 tbsp slivered almonds
- 102 eggs
- 111/2 cup milk
- 124 bay leaves
- 13Salt and pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350°F. Heat butter in a pan, cook onion until soft, about 5 minutes.

Add ground meat and cook until browned, breaking it up, about 8 minutes.

Squeeze the milk from the soaked bread (reserve the milk). Add bread to the meat and mix well.

Add curry powder, apricot jam, lemon juice, raisins, almonds, salt, and pepper. Stir well and cook 3 minutes.

Transfer to a greased baking dish. Press down evenly.

Beat eggs with 1/2 cup milk and the reserved bread milk. Pour this custard over the meat. Tuck bay leaves into the top.

Bake for 30 minutes until the custard topping is set and golden. Serve with yellow rice and chutney.
